The university is a public research university. This means the school primarily focuses on research and receives most of its funding from the government.
Location
McGill University’s main campus is located at 845 Sherbrooke Street West. It is within walking distance of two of the city’s most well-known districts: downtown Montreal and the Golden Square Mile.
McGill University also operates a second campus about 30 kilometres west of the main campus. The university’s second campus is located at 21100 Lakeshore Drive in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue.
Programs Offered
McGill University offers a variety of programs for students. In total, the university offers over 300 different programs and concentrations. These are spread out among the university’s undergraduate and graduate levels.
There are 12 Faculties at McGill University. They include the Faculty of Arts, Dentistry, Education, Engineering, Law, Management, Medicine and Health Sciences, Music, Nursing, Physical and Occupational Therapy, Science and Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
The Faculty of Dentistry, the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences only offer graduate-level programs. This means that high school applicants are not able to apply to these faculties. The other faculties offer a combination of both undergraduate and graduate studies.
